A Forsyth basketball player was recently honored for reaching a significant milestone in his high school basketball career. During varsity team introductions prior to the Panthers’ game on December 19, senior guard Chris Halbrook received special recognition for surpassing 1,000 points.

Halbrook has been with the Panthers for his entire high school basketball career, beginning as a freshman and achieving the varsity starting lineup by his sophomore year.

Coach Kevin Smith said Chris’ work ethic has been key to his success. “He’s a hard worker, and has put in the time required to reach that milestone,” said Smith. Halbrook currently has college offers, with additional schools expressing interest.

Chris’s family has been supportive over the years, as well. His dad, Shaun, said it was a privilege to help Chris develop his skills, and his grandmother proudly reached out to the Globe about the 1,000-point award.

“I have watched Christopher grow through basketball year after year,” said Chris’ mom, Jamie. “God gave him the gift, and the court became his focus and a place where he could grow. I have seen his hard work shape his confidence on and off the court.”

Congratulations, Chris, and we at the Globe wish you the best for the remainder of your senior season and wherever the game takes you in the next years!
