College of the Ozarks to offer free concert band, jazz ensemble performances

C of O to present free concert December 5

The College of the Ozarks Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble will present a concert on Friday, December 5, at 6:30 p.m. in the Royal Oak Forum at the Keeter Center on the C of O campus. Admission is free and open to the public.

“This is the perfect opportunity to hear both the College of the Ozarks Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble at the same concert,” said Dr. Kevin Powers, director. “The Jazz Ensemble will begin the evening with fun jazz arrangements of well-known Christmas carols. A highlight of this performance will be a powerful arrangement of ‘O Holy Night’ that will feature high note trumpet artist Robert Offutt. The Concert Band will then conclude the evening with festive music that will put you in the Christmas spirit along with patriotic selections that the band recently had the honor of performing before a group of Vietnam Veterans. Both of these ensembles have been working hard during rehearsals in preparation for this performance. We hope you can come and be a part of this fun and festive evening.”

College of the Ozarks to host Jazz Ensemble concert Dec. 12

College of the Ozarks will host the fall Jazz Ensemble concert Friday, Dec. 12, in Jones Auditorium on campus. The performance will start at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

“The College of the Ozarks Jazz Ensemble is greatly looking forward to performing a high energy concert of jazz big band music at our upcoming concert,” said Dr. Kevin Powers, associate professor of music. “We will be playing fun jazz arrangements of Christmas carols along with other selections. Especially meaningful will be a powerful arrangement of ‘O Holy Night’ that will feature high note trumpet artist Robert Offutt. We hope to see everyone at our concert!”
