Birdies Fore Scholarships to assist children of first responders

The Carter family of Forsyth is excited to invite the community to the 3rd Annual “Birdies Fore Scholarships” Tournament & Silent Auction, to be hosted at the Social Birdy in Branson on October 8 and benefiting the Carter Family Hero Scholarship Fund.

Inspired by Darin Carter’s gratitude for the help his family received following an injury he sustained while serving as a deputy, the Carter Family Hero Scholarship awards funds to children of current or former Taney or Stone County first responders that have been killed or injured in the line of duty, or to high school seniors in Taney or Stone County wishing to pursue a career in criminal justice, fire sciences, or emergency medical services.

The scholarship application period is from September 16 to April 1 each year and is open to every school, public and private, in Taney and Stone County. In just three years, the Fund has been able to award 14 scholarships totaling $7,000 to students from both counties. The Birdies Fore Scholarships event has been a big help in making these awards possible.

This year’s tournament will open with a 10 a.m. shotgun start on October 8. Cost per 4-person team to enter Birdies Fore Scholarships is just $100; hole sponsorships including a team are $200, or $180 for returning sponsors. Prizes will be given for closest-to-pin and best ball. Sign up by email at CarterFamilyHero@gmail.com or call 417-830-8610.

The Carters are grateful to all of the area sponsors and those who have donated silent auction items for past events, and the opportunity is now open to help this year. Visit the Carter Family Hero Fund page on Facebook and help us thank those who have already signed up to be a sponsor or donate auction items, and see how you or your business can get involved in helping bless the families of those who work hard every day to keep us safe.
