U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds seek local ‘Hometown Hero’ to fly in F-16 at Branson Wings of Pride Air Show presented by CoxHealth

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds are inviting the Ozarks community to nominate an outstanding individual for a once-in-a-lifetime honor: a flight in the backseat of an F-16 fighter jet ahead of the 2026 Branson Wings of Pride Air Show presented by CoxHealth.

As part of their national Hometown Hero program, the Thunderbirds will select one local honoree to fly with the team on Friday ahead of Labor Day weekend. In addition, one alternate will also be selected. The program recognizes individuals who exemplify service, leadership and dedication to their communities. Nominees may include wounded warriors, first responders, healthcare professionals, educators, volunteers, an average citizen who heroically saved a life or anyone making a meaningful impact.

“The Thunderbirds are honored to recognize individuals who represent the very best of their communities,” said air show director Kerry Floyd. “This program gives us the opportunity to highlight those stories and provide an unforgettable experience.”

How to nominate

Nominations, opened on May 1, can be submitted online at https://bransonwingsofpride.com/hometown-hero/

Nomination deadline: June 14, 2026
