Taney County Crisis Center: Federal funding cut

The Taney County Crisis Center received a blow this month!  Federal funding was cut by $44,000!  The Crisis Center of Taney County is the only refuge for women, men and children who are suffering from domestic violence or sexual assault.  The center provides not only food, clothing and shelter for victims but also emotional support, education and guidance.  This safe haven is an escape from the pain of violence and most of all they provide hope and encouragement for charting a new course out of a dangerous situation and into a better future. 

U. S. research shows about three women are killed every day by a current or former intimate partner.

Every community must deal with this problem and not ignore it.  In the months of June – July of this year our Crisis Center sheltered 66 women and 46 children.  The bad news is they had to turn away 195 women and 82 children for lack of space.  Perhaps you have known someone who was trapped in a bad situation but didn’t know what to do.
