SMAC Artist-in Residence: Call for artists

Each year since 2022, SMAC has offered a uniquely effective Artist-in-Residence Program. This year-long residency offers opportunities for an emerging artist to develop skills, interact with art patrons and connect with other artists. The program is beneficial to not only the emerging artist, but also for SMAC and for our entire community.

The Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC) is excited to announce that we are accepting applications for our 12-month Artist-in-Residence Program. Entry deadline is July 17, 2026. Our residency program, commencing in September, is designed to provide time and space for emerging artists to develop their voices.

Residents gain invaluable experience working in a community environment, teaching classes, sharing their technical knowledge and expertise, and managing many jobs around the art center. SMAC provides a supportive creative community, while appreciating the need for privacy and independent work.

Previously, the Artist-In-Residence program was grant funded; however, that financial support was not available for 2027. SMAC is currently looking for partners in funding this important program for the 2026-2027 residency cycle. Any amount is appreciated! Donations may be made on our website. Call info@smac-art.org or email info@smac-art.org to specify funds are to be used for the Artist-In-Resident program. SMAC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, donations are tax deductible.
