Pets of all faiths welcome to Blessing of the Animals, October 4

Blessing of the Animals is observed globally on October 4, coinciding with the Feast Day of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. St. Francis is celebrated for his deep love and respect for all creatures. This event has become a religious tradition and is observed by many faiths around the world.

It has been a long-held tradition for St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Kimberling City to invite their community to join them in thanking God for giving us this great and diverse world filled with so many beautiful creatures. This Blessing of the Animals Service is an opportunity to thank God especially for the blessing of our beloved pets. This simple, but beautiful service includes an individual blessing from Reverend Anne Cheffey for every pet who attends with their human (photos will be blessed if animal is unable to attend), special music by Darrell Croy who is a frequent entertainer at Branson theaters, and lots of happy tail wagging and socializing.

To let your pet know what a special member of your family they are, bring them to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 3 Northwoods Dr. (at James River Rd.), Kimberling City, at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 4. The service will be held in the parking lot of the church. We ask that pets be in a carrier or have their humans on a leash.
