Out of the mouths of babes: Cute, funny and heartwarming quotes from kids

COMPILED BY TIFFANY GRAVETT

We were at Mel’s Hard Luck Diner. A server was singing the song, “I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You.” He stopped at our table and sang to Kaylee, our 12-year-old granddaughter. She jumped back, made a face, and as he walked away, she said, “I am a child!”

Clementine (4) to her mom when she walked by: “You look comfy, can I sit on your lap?”

Also, Clementine was thinking recently about when her mother had a miscarriage. They had named the baby Lillian. She said, “I miss Lillian, but when I die, I’ll get to play with her.”

Note from 10-year-old Jordan to her parents:

Mom, do not do the dishes, do not clean anything. I am getting up early so I can clean. Also, you and Dad owe me 20 bucks… well, technically 25 if I do them today. And I will clean my room if you don’t touch anything except for your coffee and stuff. Also, Dad told me that he will give me my money today so I can start saving. Dad, do not pretend that you didn’t say that. I have a mind like an elephant. I love you guys. Also, I went to bed at 10… ok, 11:00… ok, you caught me. 12:00.

Harper: "My mom is a crunchy mom!"

Me: McDonald's Coke in hand, confused look on my face.

Harper: "Yep, she like only eats chips and crackers!"

One thing about her, she'll never not out me.

My son, Skyler, was retelling a Bible story to me via text message… “Jesus called out to them, ‘Come follow me and I will show you how to fish for people.’ And they left their nuts at once and followed Him. A little further up the shore he saw two brothers, James and John, sitting in their boats with their father Zebedee preparing their nuts. And he called them, too, leaving their boats and father behind.”

I bought Little Doug (4) a toy fishing set with a pole and some plastic fish he can catch with it. He was really having fun with it and I asked: “Can I try it?” Little Doug: “No, it’s too dangerous.” Me: “Why?” Little Doug: “You’re old, Mom. . . things could happen.” [1]

Tonight’s pillow talk with Danny.

"Mama, what if a bad guy wants to be our friend?”

“Hmmm, what do you think Jesus would do?"

“Well...Jesus would hug him I think....and Jesus is here right now.”
