Taney County Fall Clean-Up: October 2 - 3 (SUBMITTED)
The Taney County Commission has designated October 2 and 3, 2026, as the Fall Clean-up days. The following items will be accepted at no charge from county residents at the Taney County Transfer Station, 274 Buchanan Rd. or the Taney County Recycling Center located at 20058 US Hwy 160, Forsyth, three miles east of Forsyth. Furniture, appliances (must be empty), automotive batteries, carpet, lumber, shingles, siding, guttering and almost anything metal will be accepted. No lithium batteries, no boats allowed with fuel tanks! Tires will be accepted at the Buchanan Road Transfer Station location only; there will be a $1.00 charge per tire with a limit of 12 tires per resident. No commercial dealers will be allowed only residents. Proof of Taney County residency required; please have photo ID with address or other acceptable confirmation of residence, (electric bill, tax statement etc.). No household trash, hazardous waste, or burn pile waste will be accepted. Collection time for both locations will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For further information, please call 546-7268.
Branson VA Clinic hosts flu clinic October 5 - 9 (SUBMITTED)
Take advantage of the Branson Walk-In Flu Clinic. It’s the fastest way to get your flu vaccine, and no appointment is necessary. Join us at the Branson Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) from October 5 through October 9, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. Fluad High Dose Flu Vaccine for Veterans aged 65 years and older, and Fluzone Standard Dose Flu Vaccine for Veterans aged 18 to 64 years are both available.
USACE waives day use fees at recreation areas in observance of National Public Lands Day, September 26

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District will waive day use fees at its recreation areas Sept. 26, 2026, as part of a nationwide observance of National Public Lands Day.
The waiver covers fees for boat launch ramps and swim beaches only. The waiver does not apply to camping and camping-related services or fees for specialized facilities and events.
Other agencies that manage recreation areas on USACE lands are encouraged but not required to offer the waiver in areas they manage.
Volunteers who participate in one of USACE’s NPLD in-person activities will be issued a fee-free coupon if the volunteer site is participating in the coupon program. Volunteers should check with their local USACE project office for more information.
The fee-free coupon is valid for one year from the date of issuance and may be used for one day of entrance or day use fees at any participating federal agency’s park, forest or recreation area that charges either of these types of fees.
Visitors should contact USACE projects prior to visiting to ensure recreation areas are open.

Murney Associates celebrates grand opening of new Branson West Location

The celebration started at 11:30, and a ribbon cutting with the Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce began at noon, officially marking the opening of the new location at 108 Silver Lady Lane and Murney Associates’ continued investment in the Tri-Lakes community. Festivities continued with lunch, giveaways and more, providing an opportunity for guests to meet the Murney Associates team, tour the new location and celebrate this exciting milestone.

Local Flavor LLC to be featured on America’s Best Restaurants

Local eatery Local Flavor LLC will host a visit from America’s Best Restaurants (ABR), a national media and marketing company, for an on-site visit as part of the ABR Roadshow.
America’s Best Restaurants travels the country spotlighting independent, locally owned restaurants that make a positive impact on their communities. During the visit, the ABR Roadshow team will highlight Local Flavor LLC on camera, featuring an extensive interview with owner and chef Michelle Brashear about the restaurant's special place in the community.
Local Flavor LLC began as a small restaurant in Haskell, Oklahoma. Owners Michelle and her family have always cherished their visits to Branson, making annual trips since childhood. A serendipitous encounter during a Christmas visit led them to explore a building on a whim, which sparked the journey to opening their own restaurant. "It’s a modern-day miracle; God made this all happen," says Brashear. The restaurant aims to create an inviting atmosphere where guests feel as if they have stepped into a family member's home, emphasizing genuine hospitality and warmth.
Community involvement is at the heart of Local Flavor LLC. Branson is a tourist town that sees 8 million visitors annually, yet it maintains a tight-knit community spirit. The restaurant actively supports local initiatives and fosters connections among residents. "We love our community, and we all support each other," Brashear shares.
The menu at Local Flavor LLC boasts standout items, and the episode will feature popular dishes such as the chicken fried steak dinner, homemade onion rings and the hamburger steak dinner, which holds special significance for Brashear as it was her father's favorite meal. "Nothing is frozen; everything is made to order. We think we have the best onion rings around," she adds.
America’s Best Restaurants will be on-site at Local Flavor LLC on September 29, 2026. The public is welcome to attend.

Branson to host movie premiere

An Ozark Mountain Christmas, the made-for-TV movie that was filmed in Branson and at Silver Dollar City earlier in the year will soon premiere on television. The show that highlights the beauty and excitement of Christmas in the Ozarks makes its debut on Great American Television on November 8, but Branson residents are invited to a special Branson debut two days earlier.
On November 6, Branson will host a special red-carpet-style move premiere, and you are encouraged to be among the first to enjoy this special holiday movie.
