New officer joins Forsyth Police Department

Last month the city of Forsyth added a member to those who serve and protect the community.
Police Officer Loren Nystrom was hired by approval of the Forsyth Board of Aldermen on Sept. 21, at the regular scheduled monthly aldermen meeting. Nystrom was not in attendance during the meeting and was sworn in at a later date.
According to Forsyth Police Chief Jeffery Lofton, Nystrom has years of law enforcement and military service. “City of Forsyth Police Department welcomes Officer Loren Nystrom to staff. Officer Nystrom comes to us as a veteran law enforcement professional with over twenty years’ experience after his military service,” the department posted on their social media.
Nystrom will be on the police force on a part-time basis. “He will work anywhere between eight to 16 hours per week, per pay period,” Lofton told the aldermen at the meeting. “We are fortunate, Loren is seasoned and we do not have to teach him how to be a cop. We just have to teach him how we do stuff here.”
Nystrom was sworn in, officially, by City Clerk Cheyenne Beasley on Sept. 25, 2026. Alderman Ward 2 and Mayor Pro Tem Dennis Winzenried and Lofton were in attendance at the swearing in.
