Hurley Fire Protection District keeps busy serving community

The Hurley Fire Protection District had another busy weekend as firefighters and auxiliary members balanced community involvement with their commitment to remaining ready to respond to emergencies throughout the district.

Members of the department and auxiliary were on hand at the Crane Broiler Festival, where they helped with the department’s annual raffle. Other members spent time at the Spring Creek Saddle Club supporting its annual Junior Bull Rides event.

While some personnel were out supporting these community activities, other members remained available in the district, continuing to respond to calls and provide assistance when needed.

The department also experienced a minor truck breakdown over the weekend. Fortunately, the issue was repaired quickly, and the truck has since returned to service. Hurley Fire Protection District expressed its appreciation to Hillbilly’s Towing for helping get the vehicle back on the road and available for emergency response.

With the new school year beginning, the department is also reminding drivers throughout the district to use extra caution on area roadways. School bus stops are located throughout the district, and children will once again be walking or biking to and from school.

Firefighters and auxiliary members are encouraging motorists to slow down, remain alert and watch carefully for school buses, children and pedestrians.

The start of a new school year brings increased activity on local roads, making it especially important for drivers to pay attention and allow extra time when traveling through areas where students may be present.

The Hurley Fire Protection District thanked its personnel for their continued dedication to serving the community and encouraged everyone to do their part to help make the school year safe and successful.

As the department continues responding to calls, supporting local events and serving residents, its message to the community remains simple: slow down, stay alert and stay safe.
