Elevate Work graduation held

On Wednesday evening, November 12, Elevate Branson staff and volunteers gathered with proud families and friends to celebrate the graduation of the Fall 2025 class of the Elevate Work program.

From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., twice weekly for the nine-week class, participants gain resources and education to help them find and keep meaningful employment. During class sessions, the students network with area business leaders and build communication skills, under the guidance of experienced instructors and with encouragement from a personal mentor. The fellowship and encouragement continue even after completing the class, as former students always have a supportive community at Elevate!

Keynote speaker for the November 12 graduation was Shawn Murphy. Murphy, drawing from his own life journey, encouraged the graduates to “discover their why,” and challenged them to be sure the “why” is always in line with what God wants them to do. Also, as part of his presentation, Murphy, a military veteran, read his poem "The Parade,” his personal reflection about Vietnam veterans who did what their country asked of them but generally did not receive a good welcome home. The thought-provoking poem moved the appreciative audience to a standing ovation.

The graduating class included Jose Vega Ramirez, Angie Cantu and Christopher Sauer. A big thanks goes to mentors Bill Schutz, Gretchen Regnier and Randy Haddock.

Program director Donna McConkey said all three students were able to find employment during their nine weeks of class, and one also found a place to live. Congratulations to the students for these milestones, and best wishes for the future!

The next Elevate Work class will begin January 5. Each session includes free transportation and childcare if needed, plus dinner at 5 p.m. before each class. Application fee is just $20, and classes are FREE thanks to community partners and sponsors who want to see area residents succeed in the workforce.
