City of Branson launches water meter upgrade program to improve service and efficiency

The City of Branson is taking another step forward in strengthening its infrastructure and improving customer service with the launch of a system-wide water meter upgrade program that began on April 13.

This initiative will replace existing water meters with a modern Advanced Metering Infrastructure system, positioning Branson to deliver more accurate, efficient and responsive water service to residents and businesses. The new system, provided by Sensus, a product of Xylem, will give the city access to real-time data that enhances operations while offering meaningful benefits to customers.

With this upgrade, customers can expect improved billing accuracy, faster identification of potential leaks and better insight into water usage. The system will also allow the city to respond more quickly to irregularities, helping prevent costly water loss and supporting long-term sustainability efforts.

As part of the installation process, customers will experience a temporary interruption in water service while their existing meter is replaced.

  • Residential properties: Service interruptions are expected to last approximately 30 minutes.

  • Commercial properties: Service interruptions will vary depending on meter size but may range from one to four hours.

In addition to operational improvements, the new system will pave the way for a future customer portal, allowing users to monitor daily water usage and access account information with greater ease and transparency.

The City of Branson appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as this important upgrade is completed. This investment reflects the city’s continued commitment to providing modern infrastructure, responsible resource management and improved services for residents and businesses.
