Christian Action Ministries celebrate Stone County Food Pantry with ribbon cutting

Christian Action Ministries (CAM) is a local outreach food pantry located at 2400 Historic Hwy. 165 in Branson, with a second facility located at 139 State Hwy. Y in Forsyth. On July 1, Christian Action Ministries celebrated the opening of their third stationary pantry location in Reed Springs adjacent to the Gibson Technical Center with a formal ribbon cutting. Sharing the love of Jesus Christ with neighbors in need throughout Taney County, with this new location, CAM can now also provide the same needed service to those in Stone County.

An interesting fact of history: In 1984 eleven local churches met to discuss the problem of how to serve/minister to the less fortunate citizens of both Taney and Stone counties. In conjunction with community leaders, the churches spent over a year building the current and much needed organization, now known as Christian Action Ministries (CAM), in March of 1985.

In 2025 alone Christian Action Ministries assisted with more than 78,225 individual cases, providing in excess of two million meals and distributing over 1.7 million pounds of food. Michelle Dean, executive director stated that CAM’s vision “is to help people obtain needed resources, to encourage self-sufficiency and independence, and bring together the caring communities—religious, business and individuals—in a manner that provides dignity and respect for those we are commissioned to serve.” Christian Action Ministries is driven by a single goal, "to serve Our Lord and Savior by serving his children.”

Assistant director Laney Tatro stated that the organization operates largely with a staff of partners and volunteers who generously dedicate their time, sharing blessings through the powers of the Holy Spirit to the neighbors we serve.

CAM is always searching avenues to improve assistance to those experiencing food insecurity. CAM staff members also stated, “We believe the best way for our initiatives to be successful is for the community to actively get involved. This is an easy and effective way of contributing to the great work we do at Christian Action Ministries. One of the simplest ways to help is to volunteer your time.
