EER Roundtable: Winning the economic competition with China

As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy and Regulatory Affairs, I hosted a roundtable on America’s economic competition with China. We discussed how the Working Families Tax Cuts Act supports reliable domestic energy, strengthens our critical minerals supply chain and prevents Foreign Entities of Concern from benefiting from key tax incentives. We also discussed what it will take for America to lead in artificial intelligence, manufacturing and other strategic industries.

Public Interest Declassification Board: The government belongs to the people

I recently addressed the Public Interest Declassification Board about our work on the House Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets. We’ve made historic progress securing the release of records related to the Central Intelligence Agency’s MKULTRA program, the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as well as unidentified anomalous phenomena. I also discussed why Congress should modernize the declassification process so agencies can move faster when records no longer need to remain classified.

Brazil UAP records request

Recently I sent letters to the Central Intelligence Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation requesting an accounting of any U.S. government records related to the 1996 Varginha, Brazil unidentified anomalous phenomena incident. The letters do not ask either agency to validate any particular public claim. They ask the agencies to determine what records exist, preserve any responsive material and brief Congress on their findings. 

Honoring Steven Lampley

I recently had the privilege of honoring my friend Steven Lampley on the House floor. Steve loved his family, cared deeply about southwest Missouri and spent countless hours serving his community. He lived a life of quiet service that left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Please join me in praying for Steve’s family and all who mourn his passing.

Service Academy nominations open

High school and college students in Missouri’s Seventh District who are interested in serving our country through one of the U.S. service academies can now apply for a congressional nomination through my office. Members of Congress may nominate candidates to the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Attending a service academy carries a minimum five-year military service commitment after graduation. Applications for this cycle are due Oct. 13, 2026.
