Branson UMC to host ‘On Your Side Scam School,’ July 7

We’ve all had it happen: That “urgent” email about your virus protection expiring or a “payment due” to avoid losing a household service you aren’t sure you actually signed up for; or that phone call that starts out sounding like someone you know. It sort of looks or sounds legit; but is it? Maybe a service or company you DO utilize notifies you they’ve experienced a data breach. 

These situations are happening more and more often, some with disastrous results. To help area residents become better informed about what to watch for and how to avoid being deceived, First United Methodist Church in Branson is proud to offer the “On Your Side Scam School,” on Tuesday, July 7. Featured speaker will be Ashley Reynolds, whose popular KY3 presentations have likely saved many area residents money or helped share their stories in order to warn others. 

Topics Ms. Reynolds will cover include the following: 

• Grandparent “emergency” scams 

• IRS and Social Security scams 

• Tech support fraud 

• Gift card and wire transfer schemes
