Street Talk: A weekly question answered by the public

Did you go to your Senior Prom, and if not, why?

LEANNE KELLEY

“My prom was not that great. Me and one of my best friends decided to trade brothers. She got the better end of the deal. At least when I was 18 years old I thought that. My how age changes things.”

JANET RUMI MARTIN

“My Senior Prom I had my dress made by my Home Economics teacher and I went with my boyfriend and friends Matt and Christina in a limo. My mom also refused to let me have the front of my dress just above my knees! It was a high-low design that was pretty much a low-low dress.”

VELVA CORT

“I didn’t go to senior prom. I was hitchhiking from Tennessee to Miami that week to visit our best friend who was dying. And yes, we got to see her before she passed away.”

TAMI JONAS HILL

“I had to wear a dress. I hated dresses and still do.

I lived 30+ miles away from my high school. My boyfriend drove an old Chevy pick up with no A.C. but his mom let him drive her new car with air-conditioning. We were both excited to not have to sweat to death on our way to prom.”

PEGGY LEE BRENNAN

“I wasn’t going but my girlfriend’s brother brought guy friends home from college to take other girlfriends. He called me the day of the prom and said, ‘you are going with me.’ Most of it was fun but one of my friends drank too much and I spent most of the night in the bathroom taking care of her!”
