Local couple plans to travel USA for charity
“Individuals living with a limb loss or limb difference do the impossible every day. As a person living with a limb difference, I know this struggle personally. My name is Gaby Duvall, and I was born with an undeveloped left hand, but that has never stopped me. When an activity required both hands in school or sports, I always developed my own way to do it. Sometimes it seemed impossible, but I always persevered and found a way.”
Max and Gaby Duvall, of Ozark, MO, officially begin their journey on March 4 as they travel for charity. They started their organization, Of Hand and Heart, with the mission of traveling the United States to raise awareness for the limb loss and limb difference community and make a difference in the lives of others. Their goal is to raise $10,000 for the Amputee Coalition. This charity benefits those affected with limb loss and limb difference by providing them with education, support and advocacy.

“When we choose to become advocates, we are educating the public on important issues, providing necessary tools to those most affected, and fighting for the rights of those without a voice.”
They officially depart on March 4 at noon at the Finley River Park in Ozark, MO. The journey will take them over 10,000 miles as they travel to every corner of the country. They will complete this journey in a converted van, making stops along the way to share their story. In April, they will attend the Advocacy Forum, hosted by the Amputee Coalition in Washington D.C., where they will meet with lawmakers to discuss key issues.
Over 2.7 million Americans are experiencing daily struggles behind closed doors. By completing this journey, they hope to spread awareness to both the public and those affected by limb loss about what resources are out there. With 28 million Americans at risk of experiencing limb loss, the time to act is now as experts believe this population will double by 2050.
